A south suburban landscaper was ordered held on $100,000 bail after authorities said he choked his live-in girlfriend and beat her with a broken cognac bottle and a 2-by-4 in the home they shared.

Mayron Gardner, 39, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery in the attack that prosecutors say took place at the couple’s home Oct. 18 in the 2700 block of State Street in Burnham. The woman had to be hospitalized following the attack.

Judge Mary C. Marubio also ordered GPS monitoring for Gardner, who is expected to return to court next week.

Gardner punched and choked his 34-year-old girlfriend before striking her with the broken Hennessy bottle as well as a plank of wood, according to prosecutors. The woman was hospitalized with multiple cuts and contusions to her body, including the back of her head, according to prosecutor Jasmine Morgan.

Gardner was also barred from contacting the woman.
