A Chicago Flashback story in Sunday’s Tribune incorrectly characterized the Chicago neighborhoods in which African-Americans lived during the 1980s as run-down. Although some neighborhoods were run-down, many were not, and African-Americans lived throughout the city, not just on the South and West sides.
The Tribune regrets the error.
