Is education for citizens or corporations?
Our governor’s priority: “realign all levels of the State’s educational system, as well as … to primarily satisfy the employment needs of Hoosier companies.”
Interesting priority. Education once meant preparing children to live in a democratic society, to raise them to their highest potential as human beings, to emulate education as humankind’s greatest minds proclaimed it; searching for ultimate good, truth, beauty, developing integrity, honor, love of learning, critical thinking, creativity et al.
Preparation for the workforce has always been a goal for public schools, but are children mere cogs in corporate machinery?
Preparation for the next century? Of course, but how best to do so. What kind of person is best suited for it?
Do people — children ‘ exist for corporations, society, or does society and corporations exist for people? Can democracy exist if people are considered mere objects on corporate assembly lines?
Do politicians or our greatest thinkers through the centuries best understand true education?

Trump’s moves have washed away doubts
I admit that I initially had concerns about Donald Trump. Now after one year in office my reservations are gone. I’m all on board the Trump Train. Not since Reagan have we had such a transformative, conservative President.
His tax cut proposals will further boost an already skyrocketing economy, jump started by his regulation reform and business friendly policies. He is resolute in his efforts to make the country safe by extreme vetting of immigrants by his halting of illegal trespassers and his attacks on radical Islamic terrorism. He has placed a conservative on the Supreme Court and is rapidly appointing judges to the lower courts who will actually follow the Constitution and not the loony leftist cause of the day. He is pushing a foreign policy that puts America and her citizens first. He is fighting the elitist establishment in Washington that puts their interests above the good of the country. Finally, he is taking on the war on God in our culture. He is unashamed of his support of religious freedom, his pro-life stance, and his acknowledgement of God as the source of our freedoms and prosperity..
Look past the bluster. Trump is a game changer.
