Montgomery residents are making it a point to light up the holiday season this year.
Each year, the village’s Beautification Committee hosts a contest to honor the homes with the best holiday decorations. In the past, an average of 60 nominations have been received for 40 addresses. This year is quite different.
“With a week to go, we have already doubled our typical volume with 131 nominations for 80 addresses,” said Todd Hoppenstedt, public works director in the village.
Nominations are being accepted through Dec. 17 and can be made through the village’s website or by calling the Public Works Department at 630-896-9241, Ext. 9044.
On Dec. 20, a group of judges will go around the community to look at the displays. Each home that is a winner will have a sign placed in the yard, recognizing the home for its decorations.
