The annual Social Security raise for seniors is baloney. I just got my check credited to my bank and I was supposed to get a raise. Well, they raised the cost of Medicare benefits, so I actually lost a dollar overall. I didn’t gain anything. Thank you, government.
The state of Illinois is being taxed into oblivion. The politicians, especially House Speaker Mike Madigan and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, are ridiculous. The gang situation is completely out of control and getting worse day by day. We are the murder capital of the United States of America and our politicians stay in a state of amnesia. Wake up, Illinois.

I live in Oak Forest. When the sweetened beverage tax was in effect, I drove to New Lenox, thanks to the Cook County Board of Commissioners. It was a 15-minute drive. I bought my soda and the rest of my groceries there. They also have a different sales tax and, to me, it was worth it. What is Cook County going to try to tax next — cookies?

How’d they do that? Orland Park is losing a major retailer, but instead of having a vacant building, they already have a developer with a repurposing plan for it. Looks like we’ll still be “movie-ing” in Orland, doing a little shopping while we’re right there, and grabbing a bite to eat. Well done, Orland staff and officials.
