Emergency crews put out a fire in the basement of Roberto Clemente Community Academy in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood early Wednesday, authorities said.
Chicago firefighters responded to an alarm at 2345 W. Division St. about 2:15 a.m., according to fire officials.
Firefighters put out the blaze about 35 minutes later.
An electrical panel in the sub basement sparked the fire, creating lingering smoke, officials said.
The school was inspected and will operate normally Wednesday, said Principal Fernando Mojica.
District spokesman Michael Passman said there “was minimal damage to a basement area that students do not access.”
