I thought schools were supposed to have longer school days. Some of these kids don’t go to school until 8:30 a.m. and they’re home before 3:30 p.m. When you take time out for recess and lunch, how many hours are they actually in school? What happened to eight hours a day for eight hours’ pay? These schoolteachers have got it made. . .
The Miami Dolphins football organization must have had water on their brains and been totally brain-dead because paying Jay Cutler $10 million to be their 2017 quarterback was a huge joke. Didn’t the Dolphins watch old videos of Cutler as the Chicago Bears quarterback? He ran backwards instead of forwards and he dove to the ground so he wouldn’t get hit. . . Another loser I was glad to see the Bears finally get rid of a few years ago was linebacker Brian Urlacher.

Illinois courts stated that you cannot interfere with pension contractual rights. There’s an obvious solution. Going forward, just have defined contributions, which are 401(k) plans and the like and no more defined benefit, which is the monthly amount people receive. The defined benefits are exorbitant. We can’t afford them and most corporations did away with them in the 1980s. The government wants to hold on to them for obvious reasons. This solution is not overly simplistic. There needs to be a discussion on it, but the politicians and everyone else benefits from the defined benefit program. It’s ridiculous. They’re getting 80 to 90 percent of their salary when they retire. My retirement? I’m going to drop dead. It’s terrible.
What’s all the hoopla about the Blackhawks making a push to get into the playoffs? If they do, they’ll be eliminated as quickly as they were last year but in a more humiliating fashion than last season. They’re nowhere near the championship team fans knew. The sooner they drain the ice and go home the better.
