Chicago radio host Pete McMurray, who is working fill-in shifts on WGN-AM, and his wife, Sara, sold their two-story, five-bedroom house in Roscoe Village for $950,000 Jan. 23 and on the same day paid $957,500 for a four-bedroom, 4,300-square-foot house in the Horner Park neighborhood. Both homes are in the North Center community area.
McMurray’s last full-time radio gig was a stint as a morning host on WDRV-FM from 2015 until 2016. He previously had been an evening host at WGN from 2013 until 2015, and prior to that had held shifts on WCKG-FM, WLUP-FM and WKQX-FM.
The McMurrays’ new Horner Park two-story house was built in 2003 and sits on an extra-wide lot. The house has 3½ baths, a Honduran mahogany front door, Brazilian cherry floors, three fireplaces, smart home features, a kitchen with Wolf and Bosch appliances, a master suite with custom closets and a private deck, and a deck off the kitchen that links to a pergola covered roof deck.
The house was initially listed last May for $1.05 million and was later reduced to $1.025 million and $995,000 before selling.
Meanwhile, the brick house that the McMurrays sold in Roscoe Village has custom built-ins, bay windows on two levels, custom window treatments throughout, two gas fireplaces, a play area on the lower level and a new kitchen with Caesarstone quartz counters and a marble backsplash. Outside, the property has a canopy over a large deck off the family room, a new in-ground sprinkler system and two new air conditioning units.
The couple paid $790,000 in 2007 for the Roscoe Village house. They first listed it in October for $978,000 and cut their asking price the following month to $965,000.
Pete McMurray declined to comment on the transactions.
