I watched another all-star game recently. It was the NHL All-Star Game. It seems like all-star games are pretty pathetic. There’s no effort. The players are just having a good time. It’s a chance for millionaires to win some more cash. They might as well eliminate all-star games because they don’t provide anything to the fans.
The Illinois gross domestic product was $796 billion in 2016, nearly double many surrounding states. Illinois’ per capita income is nearly $5,000 higher annually than anti-union states beloved by columnist Austin Berg and the Illinois Policy Institute. If Illinois is broke, it’s because Illinois gives multinational corporations and the wealthy huge tax breaks. As a nonunion state retiree, my work week was changed to 40 hours in the 1970s. I had a 401(k)-like pension option 20 years ago. I don’t get Social Security or Medicare. My pay and benefits were exactly median for all U.S. jobs, although mine required two university degrees and a professional certification. Berg and the Illinois Policy Institute should check their facts or stop distorting them.
If your house has a hydrant, shovel it out. Is it a pain, sure. But think of the alternative if the fire personnel can’t get to it.

Pitbull owners get very offended when someone challenges the temperament of the animal. All dogs can be aggressive and every breed has its place in a family. Pitbulls often do not reach their natural temperament until 2-3 even 4 years old. This means that constant vigilance, care and training is needed during this time. This is a major drawback to the breed because after a year or so people assume that their dog is safe around people, small pets, small children until they are met with a challenge. If you do not have the patience and time to properly care for a pitbull, you should not own one.
