Seniors from Naperville Central and Naperville North are in the running for one of the 7,500 scholarships worth more than $32 million through the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The students from Naperville District 203 high schools include:
Naperville Central: Phoebe Harmon, Raina Harpalani, Neha Kaki, Mia Kurkechian, Yangyang Li, Caroline Lott, Sanjana Ramrajvel, Elizabeth Reimer, Devyesh Satpathy, Anna Southon, Neya Thanikachalam, Ariana Wilde, Shirley Wu and Jamie Zhang.
Naperville North: Angie Chen, Justin Chen, Lucy Fu, Howie Guo, Joseph Isaac, Kathryn Jin, Jatin Mathur, Jeffrey Moore, Horace Qiao, Robin Rong, Steven Shi, Sangavi Subramani, Matthew Vaughn, Sarah Wastek, Jason Xia, Danielle Yang, Emily Yang, Christina Yu, Kevin Chang and Felix Zheng.
Last fall, 16,000 academically talented high school seniors were selected as semifinalists in the 63rd annual merit program. About 90 percent of the semifinalists attain finalist standing, and about half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship and earn the title of Merit Scholar.
Merit Scholar recipients will be announced between April and July.
