Piano quartet concert

The Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Wentz Concert Hall in North Central College’s Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

Day-off discovery camp

Children in first through fifth grades who have a school holiday can participate in the DuPage Children’s Museum’s Day-Off Discovery day camp.

Camp will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the museum, 301 N. Washington St., and will feature an engineering theme.

Naper Settlement camp

Naper Settlement’s first Winter Olympics showdown, Naper Games, is the theme for the school day-off camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the settlement, 523 S. Webster St.

Children in first through fifth grades can create a costume and Olympic torch while learning about the history of the Olympics as well as PyeongChang, South Korea, site of the current games. Campers will also compete in Olympics-inspired contests.

SamaraCare’s annual breakfast

SamaraCare, which provides mental health services, will host its 11th annual Silent Samaritans Breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Hotel Arista, 2139 CityGate Lane.

Author Mary Stimming, an assistant director at the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion, will be the keynote speaker.

The Silent Samaritans program helps raise funds to ensure that every woman who comes to SamaraCare seeking counseling receives help, regardless of her ability to pay due to divorce, job loss or abandonment.

Tickets are $50 per person or $450 for tables of 10, and may be purchased at www.samaracarecounseling.org.

A.D.O.P.T. fundraiser

A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is sponsoring a fundraiser, Kitty Cocktail Hour, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Jimmy’s Grill, 245 S. Washington St.

Admission is $20 at the door, which includes appetizers and one complimentary beer, wine or soda, and proceeds will benefit the shelter animals.

Tax assistance

The Notre Dame Club of Greater DuPage and Benedictine University are helping low-income families and individuals file their income taxes from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave.

Household income should be less than $54,000 a year to qualify for the free tax return preparation and e-filing. Participants must bring the necessary paperwork.

Appointments will not be accepted, and clients will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Naperville Ale Fest

The Naperville Ale Fest, winter edition, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Frontier Park, 3380 Cedar Glade Drive.

The adults-only fest is one of the only outdoor beer festivals in the area and will feature more than 150 winter beers and ciders. Food trucks will be on site and there also will be hot chocolate and coffee.

A general admission ticket costs $49, and a designated driver ticket costs $19.

Habitat for Humanity fundraiser

The first Swing for Housing fundraiser sponsored by DuPage Habitat for Humanity will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Topgolf Naperville, 3211 Odyssey Court.

The event features three hours of golf, a lunch buffet, non-alcoholic drinks, a raffle and more to support the homebuilding mission.
