,Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos said Wednesday after his team’s victory over Bayern Munich that the blancos “have not done anything,” and asked for “maximum respect for a great Bayern team.”
“We knew who we would encounter. The team defended very well,” said Ramos after the match.
“Who said it would be easy? People expected a 3-0, but is very complicated. The first step is taken. We took a favorable result, but we have not done anything. Maximum respect for a great Bayern team.”
Ramos also highlighted the importance of Marco Asensio’s and Lucas Vazquez’s performances.
“Independent of the defensive work, Lucas Vazquez left his soul on the pitch. He did very well against (Franck) Ribery. It was a solid team effort and we will continue to approve.”
Lastly, Ramos admitted the team “unconsciously” retreated after Joshua Kimmich’s goal before “going after the game.”
“We defended well and we killed them on the counter. These types of things make the team great. No matter who jumps on, they do it well,” said Ramos.
