Police said a Gary man was arrested Thursday after a search warrant for his residence reportedly turned up guns, ammunition, drug and related items, and cash.

Around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the Porter County Multi-Enforcement Group, or PCMEG, executed the search warrant in the 800 block of Elkhart Street in the city’s Aetna section, with the assistance of the Gary Narcotics Unit and Gary SWAT, according to a release from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.

Police allegedly recovered three handguns; ammunition; drugs, including cocaine, marijuana and steroids; drug paraphernalia and scales; and about $1,500 in cash from the residence.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on preliminary felony charges of possession of narcotics.

PCMEG is filing additional charges with the Lake County Prosecutor’s office for felony dealing. The man was transported to the Lake County Jail.
