A 28-year-old Logan Square man has been charged with the murder of a man found shot dead New Year’s Day in Avalon Park.

Chicago police officers responding to a call of a person down found him unresponsive outside about 8:50 p.m. Jan. 1 in the 8100 block of South Stony Island Avenue, the Tribune reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was identified as Jaquan Diario Reed, of the 1000 block of East Marquette Road in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
An autopsy two days later revealed he had died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
