Oak Lawn Police said they are investigating an armed robbery early Monday at a gas station.

The robbery happened about 1:45 a.m. at the Thornton’s station in the 9100 block of South Cicero Avenue, police said in a news release.

A man wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, jeans, a baseball hat, a black hat and gloves was accompanied by a woman wearing a black shirt, khaki pants, a black mask and gloves, police said.

The man jumped over the counter and, brandishing a handgun, ordered an employee to open the cash register, according to the release. During the robbery, the woman put cartons of cigarettes in a bag she had brought into the gas station with her, police said. The employee was not hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 708-422-8292.
