Kudos to Valparaiso High School peer mentorship program. I witnessed your kindness and the attention given to your buddies during your recent mall holiday shopping trip. You guys made my day! Keep up the great attitudes!

The city of Gary misspent $100 million on school debt. Now they want the debt forgiven. Where were the fiscally responsible people when the money was being spent?

If Trump’s taxes showed a successful, honest businessman, we would have seen them by now.

It is high time for Mitch McConnell to be retired so he can spend more time in his tobacco path and the sooner the better.

Six months ago, the FBI warned about the loophole that the Saudi shooter used to purchase a firearm. He bought a weapon using a hunting license exemption. Our lawmakers are more worried about losing their campaign donations from the NRA and firearms manufacturers than they are from losing innocent Americans.

I feel the need to correct a misguided post in the Dec. 11th Quickly column. Impeachment is SUPPOSED to be used to check abuses of power by public officials (elected and unelected) when needed. What the Democrats have done is turn it into a purely political, purely partisan, totally wrong attempt to overthrow a duly elected President … mostly because they don’t like him.

With Articles of Impeachment underway, the Republicans’ only issue is being called cleverly, “A Rush To Judgment”. No. Three years is not a rush! Republicans knew, as did most of the people, that the 2016 fix was in on the rush to elect Trump. (Russia got exactly what it wanted.) But Republicans could care less about the election, the Constitution, or the people of the USA as a sad result.

I am just sitting on the edge of my chair awaiting the January impeachment hearings in the Senate. The House hearings were such a farce — no facts from the Democrats, just a lot of phony hype. We know their motive was to bias the 2020 elections in their favor, but they did a poor job of it. I know Mitch wants a quick vote to end it all, but I want to let out the dirt on Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff, Durbin, Schumer, Harris, Booker, Green, Biden and Waters so that America can see the truth!

The damage being inflicted by this president is tragic. Members of Congress and staffers who defend and misrepresent his indefensible actions are telling Americans it’s OK to be dishonest, unethical and corrupt. We deserve so much better.

If you still support Trump, you need to return to civics class.

Go to any courtroom on any day of the week, any week of the year, and listen to the not guilty pleas of the guilty. Nobody is ever guilty of their crimes. It’s amazing how that works.

It’s really a scary thought that a Quickly commentator would say “It’s going to be a landslide of Biblical proportions because nothing brings out the Evangelical vote better than this.” What, backing a guilty man, a corrupt politician, taking bribes from Russia?

You can’t make this up. The President is now concerned about how many times you flush a toilet. Please impeach this disgraceful fool so we can get back to decency.

Consider a world where those who commit crimes can decide that their actions are not crimes, even after a lawful process has determined that a crime occurred? What kind of chaos would we live in?

It is not about hating Trump, even though the right-wing pundits want to scream that all day long. It’s about justice, and democracy, and about the blood of every fallen soldier who ever died to protect the ideals of this nation. It’s about so much more than this petty little man.
