Whether it’s for gloves, masks, ventilators, testing supplies or materials to help set up field hospitals at McCormick Place and across the state, the money the state is spending to fight the coronavirus pandemic is being tracked by the comptroller’s office.

Data from late March and early April showed most spending on PPE, personal protective equipment like gloves and masks, while spending in late April was more focused on materials for coronavirus tests. This data does not include spending on salaries and overtime related to the pandemic.

The list below shows items the state purchased as well as a list of restaurants, bars and hotels that received emergency grants from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Grant amounts to individual businesses were not released, however the DCEO site said restaurants and bars received an average grant of $14,000 and hotels an average of $30,000.
