Oswego officials say they are hoping to bring a bit of normalcy to the fall season amid the coronavirus pandemic by offering 500 free pumpkins to residents.
Residents can receive a free pumpkin from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the future site of the Oswego entertainment venue on Station Drive near the former Park N Ride parking lot.
Village staff and volunteers will be there to greet and direct residents, officials said. Children are encouraged to come in costume, according to village officials.
The village will give out 500 pumpkins on a first-come, first-served basis. A free pumpkin is available to only Oswego residents. Residents must be prepared to show identification with an Oswego address in order to get their free pumpkin, according to village officials.
Public health precautions will remain in effect during the pumpkin giveaway, officials said. Residents will be asked to practice proper social distancing and to wear a face mask when interacting with staff and volunteers.
The village’s sponsors for the event are Allied First Bank and Midwest Bank.
