“Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven on Netflix’s mega-hit, almost never munched on any Eggo waffles with the Hawkins gang.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” Brown revealed she nearly quit acting after losing a role on another hugely popular TV show: “Game of Thrones.”
“I think I was just very disheartened by the rejection, which is something I tell everyone,” Brown said.
“Like, this industry is just full of rejection, 24/7,” she added. “You get far more noes — a lot of noes — before you get a yes. I was auditioning for commercials, for anything, really. I then auditioned for ‘Game of Thrones’ and I got a ‘no’ for that. Then that’s kind of when I was like, ‘Oh, this is really difficult,’ because I guess I really wanted that role.”
While Brown does not specify which role she auditioned for, the timing suggests it may have been Lyanna Mormont, who quickly became a fan favorite. However, it appears to have worked out for Brown: she was cast as Eleven two months after getting rejected by HBO.
“Stranger Things” season four recently returned to production after going on pause in the spring because of coronavirus. Netflix has not given any updated release date information.
