Hurricane Delta, the ninth hurricane to make landfall this year, became a Category 4 storm on Oct. 6, 2020 just before making landfall in the Gulf of Mexico on October 7 and 8. Delta made landfall near Creole, Louisiana on Oct. 9, 2020, as a Category 2 hurricane, bringing winds of 100 mph and leaving around 300,000 residents without power immediately.
