Teachers and students at Evanston Township High School will continue remote learning into 2021, administrators announced last week.
In a website post, Superintendent Eric Witherspoon wrote that “as ETHS continues to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff, Enhanced E-Learning will continue into the third quarter. Third quarter will begin with remote learning after winter break, on Jan. 4, 2021.”
ETHS could transition to a hybrid attendance model in the fourth quarter, but will follow the advice of the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health, Witherspoon wrote.
“The goal, as always, is to return to ETHS in-person with a regular, predictable schedule while minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” Witherspoon wrote.
Any plans to transition to a hybrid model will be announced at least 30 days in advance, Witherspoon wrote.
Meanwhile, plans continue to reopen schools to students Jan. 19 at Evanston-Skokie District 65, wrote Superintendent Devon Horton in a statement to the community last week. More details are expected later this month.
