Valentine’s Day is typically a last-minute shopping holiday. It’s not just procrastination – no one wants to hand their date an overripe, mushy chocolate-covered strawberry or bouquet of wilted roses. Cramming all the shopping and celebrating into just a couple of days makes things trickier for restaurants, florists and chocolate shops trying to avoid crowds during the pandemic, even if some consumers find themselves scaling back celebrations after social distancing put a damper on their dating lives this year.
