An unidentified person died in a traffic crash Friday morning in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood after a vehicle the person was in struck a pole and caught fire, Chicago police said.
The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. A black Volkswagen Tiguan struck a pole in the 7800 block of South Racine Avenue, causing the vehicle to ignite, police say.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
