Drivers were urged to avoid DuSable Lake Shore Drive this weekend due to critical repairs for a bridge and nearby road closures for the Chicago Marathon, the city announced Saturday morning.

The McFetridge Drive bridge over southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive, south of Roosevelt Road, needs “emergency repairs,” the Chicago Department of Transportation wrote in a statement. Three southbound lanes will be closed for “several hours as a precautionary measure” throughout Saturday afternoon.

In addition, Columbus Drive will be closed this weekend for Sunday’s Chicago Marathon. That will lead to “major delays” in both directions on DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

Motorists are advised “to seek alternate routes,” CDOT wrote.
