A man accused of threatening his neighbor and pointing a gun at a Park Ridge police officer before allegedly barricading himself inside his home, then telling police a bomb had been planted, has been released on bond.

Joseph Imburgia, 39, of the 200 block of Vine Avenue, Park Ridge, was released from Cook County Jail custody on Dec. 14 after a family member posted $10,000 or 10% of his $100,000 bond, according to court documents.

One of the conditions of Imburgia’s release is that he have no contact with any complaining witnesses in his case or their family members, documents state.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 28.

Imburgia was arrested Dec. 10 and charged with aggravated assault, residential burglary, criminal damage to property and possession of a gun without a Firearm Owners Identification Card following an incident that occurred at his townhouse complex at 255 Vine Ave., Park Ridge police said.

According to police and court documents, Imburgia was accused of throwing a 100-pound dumbbell through his neighbor’s kitchen window on the morning of Dec. 10 and threatening her, telling her he had a gun.

According to police, though the two were neighbors, the woman did not know Imburgia.

When police officers arrived, they reported seeing Imburgia holding a handgun, which he allegedly pointed at one of the officers. Imburgia then ran away and entered his townhouse, barricading himself inside for approximately an hour before he agreed to surrender and be taken into custody, police said.

While in police custody, Imburgia allegedly told police there was a bomb in the building and the Cook County Bomb Squad was contacted to conduct a search. Police said no explosives were found.

Residents of the remaining units in the complex were evacuated when the barricade situation began, police said, and officers maintained a presence in the area throughout the day.
