Classical new year

The New Philharmonic brings the culture into the new year with concerts at 1:30, 5 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn. Bass-baritone Ted Allen Pickell, featured in New Philharmonic’s 2017 production of “The Mikado,” joins New Philharmonic for a mix of waltzes, polkas, arias, light classical, pops and more. Tickets are $67-$77. Streaming tickets are also available to view the 1:30 p.m. Dec. 31 performance live; then on demand Jan. 1-2, 2022. At 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of the College of DuPage. Last holiday lights

It’s the final days of 2021’s Forest of Lights at Fair Oaks Farms in Fair Oaks from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 31 and 5-8 p.m. Jan. 1-2, 2022. The one-mile walk includes changing scenes of lights and interactive color displays. Hot chocolate and s’mores kits will be on sale. Tickets are $6-$10; ages 2 and younger are free. New Year’s Eve in Lockport

The Moose Lodge in Lockport will host a New Year’s Eve party from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dec. 31. The evening includes a buffet dinner, open bar and live music by the band Midnight. Tickets are $60. At 118 E. 10th St. Go to Lockportmoose.com.

New year, plus beer

Buffalo Creek Brewing in downtown Long Grove is celebrating the arrival of 2022 with the 2nd annual New Year’s Day Alpine Fest from 12 to 10 p.m. Jan. 1, 2022. There will be a festive scene inside and outside, six firepits, patio and barrel table heat lamps and more than two acres of winter wonderland to explore. Latin night

It’s Latin Night at the Piazza in Aurora from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Jan. 5, 2022. Local instructors specializing in salsa, bachata, cumbia and cha-cha will give free lessons beginning at 8 p.m. Two DJs will spin tunes. Tickets are free. At 85 Executive Drive.
