Two people were shot early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Eagle Road, Elgin police said.

No details on what occurred were released by police other than the incident occurred about 4:10 a.m. and one person was taken to an area hospital, an Elgin Police Department Facebook post said.

The second victim did not require medical treatment, the post said.

“Preliminary information received is that this incident appears to be isolated with no threat to the community,” the post said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 847-289-2600 or to send a text to 847411, including “ELGINPD” at the start of the message.

This was the fourth incident of a gun being fired in Elgin since the start of the year and the first in which someone was injured, according to posts on the police department’s Facebook page.

There were 66 shootings in the city in 2021, 20 of which involved people being struck by bullets.

An online “transparency” dashboard provides no details on the incidents that are listed, and the police department does not issue news releases on incidents that occur in the city other than the limited details posted on its Facebook page.
