A drop-off event to let people safely dispose of unused medication will be held from 8 a.m. to noon April 9 at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway in Aurora.
All medications except controlled substances will be accepted. The goal of the disposal event is to keep medications out of the waterways and protect the environment, organizers said.
Partnering on the event are the Kiwanis Club of Aurora, Fox Metro Water Reclamation District, the city of Aurora, Aurora Township, Fox Valley Park District and other local agencies.
Chair for the community event is Pat Divine, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Aurora and Human Resources coordinator for Fox Metro.
“We do not want medications being flushed down the toilet and into our Fox River,” Divine said in a press release about the event. “So please do visit our drop-off with your old drugs.”
