Naperville’s brush collection program begins May 9
Residents can dispose of unbundled branches and tree trimmings through Naperville’s bulk brush collection program starting the week of May 9.
The city is divided into five collection districts and each collection cycle takes about a week to pick up.
Homes with garbage pickup on Mondays should place their branches on the curb by Sunday, May 8, and branches will be collected the week of May 9.
Homes with garbage day on Tuesday should place their branches on the curb by May 15 for pickup the week of May 16.
Branch pick up for homes with garbage day on Wednesdays will occur the week of May 23.
Branch pick up for homes with garbage day on Thursdays will occur the week of May 31, and branch pick up for homes with garbage day on Fridays will be collected the week of June 6.
Branches must be between three and eight feet long and no greater than six inches in diameter. They should be stacked on the parkway and should not be tied or bundled. Anything with thorns should be placed in a separate pile.
Brush piles that contain nails, metal, stone or lumber will not be collected. Tree trunks, roots, root balls and logs are not accepted in brush collection.

Ribfest’s Country Music Day performers announced
The Exchange Club of Naperville has announces its Country Music Day artist lineup for Sunday, June 19, at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds in Wheaton.
Headliner Brett Eldredge as announced last month, and he will be joined by Ashley McBryde, Levi Hummon and Alexandra Kay.
“We have learned that our fans love nothing better than setting up a chair, enjoying a cold beverage and some great ribs, and listening to great country music all day long,” Bev Schafman, chair of the 2022 Ribfest, said in a news release.
McBryde received Country Music Association nominations in 2021 for Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
Hummon has more than 130 million career on-demand streams as an independent artist, and Kay has 3 million followers on TikTok , more than 1.2 million Facebook followers and tens of thousands of YouTube followers, the release said.
Ribfest will be held June 17-20, with proceeds made going to efforts to fight child abuse and domestic violence.
LWV holding forums for Republican candidates
The League of Women Voters is sponsoring several upcoming Republican candidate forums.
Candidates for the 11th Congressional District will present their views at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Batavia City Hall, 100 N. Island Ave., Batavia. The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville.
The forum is sponsored by 10 Leagues that represent parts of the 11th Congressional District. It can be viewed live at BATV’s public access Channel 17 and on www.facebook.com/BATV1017 and will be uploaded to youtube.com/user/BATV1017.
GOP primary candidates for DuPage County Board chairman will participate in a forum at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Elmhurst City Hall, 209 N. York Road, which is sponsored by the League of Women Voters Elmhurst.
A 14th Congressional District forum for Republican candidates will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19. The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville.

Painted pickup truck sculptures go on display June 1
Sixteen artist-painted pickup trucks will be on display throughout downtown Naperville as part of its annual summer sculptures series, representatives from the Downtown Naperville Alliance said.
With the theme of “Cruising Into Summer,” the sculptures will be on display from June 1 through Labor Day weekend. A map of locations will be posted at www.downtownnaperville.com.
Downtown Naperville has featured area artists and brightly-colored and sculptures since 2012. Previous sculptures have included book benches, hearts, dogs and sailboats.
