CURE offers online sessions for learners of all ages
IU Northwest’s Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) offers non-credit courses for learners of all ages with a wide range of free and low-cost courses include gardening, computers, smartphones, and reading skills. CURE is enrolling now for summer sessions. “Collecting and Cleaning Seeds from the Garden” with Landscape Horticulturist, Dolly Foster, will be held via Zoom from 1 to 2:15 p.m.on Aug. 19. Registration deadline is Noon Aug. 18 at go.iu.edu/3AVG. Free and open to adults of all ages. “Health Benefits of Gardening” with Linda Curley, Julia Miller and Rebecca Koetz from the Purdue Extension, will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. on Aug. 31 via Zoom. Register by Noon Aug. 30 at go.iu.edu/3AVG. Free and open to all adults. “Introduction to Genealogy Research” with Linda Jones, president of the Gary Historical and Cultural Society at IU Northwest, will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 concurrently via Zoom and in-person at IU Northwest, 3400 Broadway, Gary. Leadership Institute program at PNW accepting applications
The Leadership Institute at Purdue Northwest (PNW) is accepting applications for the 2022-23 Leadership Northwest Indiana (LNI) program. The program will include in-person sessions of instruction and activities, a 360-leadership assessment and custom one-on-one coaching. LNI provides evidenced-based learning experiences to strengthen leadership skills and give strategies to be a better leader in the community, workplace and at home. The program will begin in September and run through May 2023. Participants will meet for eight monthly, half-day in-person session on PNW’s Westville campus, 1401 S. U.S. 421.
