A Gary man was charged in connection with his Sept. 22 escape from the Lake County Community Corrections Center, according to court records.

Devonte L. Wilson, of Gary, is charged with escape, a Level 5 felony.

On Sept. 22, Wilson was an inmate at the LCCC for pleading guilty to robbery, a Level 5 felony on Aug. 18. He was serving a sentence of two years as part of the Kimbrough Work Release Program when he entered a staff member’s office, pushed open an exit door and jumped off a balcony to escape, according to the probably cause affidavit.

He was later found by Lake County Sheriff’s police and brought back to the LCCC to await transport to the Lake County Jail, records state.
