INDOT seeks applicants for scholarship program

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is seeking applicants for its Engineering Scholarship Program, available for undergraduate and graduate students. Recipients may receive up to $3,125 per semester, as well as opportunities for paid employment during summer breaks and upon graduation. Students must be accepted or enrolled full-time in one of Indiana’s accredited Civil Engineering schools.

The program must also be certified by Indiana’s Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Eligible universities with ABET-certified Civil Engineering programs include Purdue University, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Purdue University Northwest, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Trine University, University of Evansville, University of Notre Dame, University of Southern Indiana and Valparaiso University. INDOT’s scholarship program offers $3,125 per semester or $2,083 per trimester for up to five years of post-secondary Civil Engineering education. Scholarship funds may be applied to educational expenses, fees and books. In return, recipients have the opportunity to work at INDOT in full-time, paid positions during summer breaks and upon graduation.

Puppeteer brings spin on ‘Sleepy Hollow’ to Bulldog Park

The City of Crown Point and the Crown Point Community Library is bringing Puppeteer Dylan Shelton to Bulldog Park for a spin on Washington Irving’s classic short story, “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” “Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod Returns,” a life-size Halloween puppet show with audience participation, will be presented at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Franciscan Health Amphitheatre, 183 S. West St. Crown Point. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free, and concessions will be available for purchase. Attendees should bring a blanket or chair to watch the show. CURE offers online sessions for learners of all ages

Indiana University Northwest’s Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) provides a variety of free and low-cost courses for all ages through its Community Garden, Adult Education, Reading Skills and Senior University programs. ‘Preview PNW’ informational session for prospective students

Prospective students are invited to visit Purdue University Northwest for “Preview PNW” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hammond campus, 2200 169th St. During the event, students will learn about the university’s undergraduate offerings and admission process as well as resources on financial aid and scholarships. Campus tours also will be available. PNW offers more than 70 areas of study, nearly 60 student organizations and 20 athletic teams on two student-centered campuses.
