Midwest Express Clinic opens in Matteson

Munster-based Midwest Express Clinic held a grand opening last week for a new office in Matteson.

Matteson Mayor Sheila Chalmers-Currin helped cut the ribbon last week at the new office at 402 Town Center Road.

Midwest Express Clinic is in the midst of an expansion and also opened a new office in October at 17119 S. LaGrange Road in Tinley Park. There are now 13 offices in Illinois.

Additional offices are coming this fall in northwest suburban Norridge, and Griffith and North Hammond in northwest Indiana, officials with the business said.

Midwest Express Clinic opened in Munster, Ind., in 2012 to provide services to walk-in customers. The clinics now also provide preventive care, ultrasounds, X-rays, and diagnostics, all performed in-house.

They accept health insurance including Medicare and Medicaid.

Hours are the new locations will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

Durbin’s, Darla’s to open in Justice

Justice has approved business licenses for Durbin’s to open a restaurant and a Darla’s Deli & Café gaming cafe at 7801 S. Archer Road in the triangle development.

Also approved recently were home licenses for Henry’s Trucking Enterprises Inc., a home office for a transportation business at 8956 W. 84th Place; Stairsland LLC, operating a home office for a construction business at 7943 S. 84th Court; License Stamp it Notary Service LLC, operating a home office for a notary service business at 8046 S. 83rd Court; and Blu Kangaroo Realty LLC, operating a home office for a real estate sales business at 8046 S. 83rd Court.

Worth tobacco stores closed

Two tobacco shops in Worth have been closed after their business licenses were revoked when police discovered illegal cigarettes were being sold in the businesses, police said.

In August, police said they discovered OG Tobacco, 11300 S. Harlem Ave., was selling cigarettes without the Illinois tobacco stamp. The business was selling cigarettes from Indiana, according to police.

In September, police said Up in Smoke, 11015 S. Harlem Ave., was found to be selling cigarettes without the Illinois tobacco stamp. The cigarettes being sold were stamped in Indiana and Missouri.

The shop was also found to be selling cannabis without a license, police said.

Darvin kicks off annual furniture giveaway

Registration is now open for the annual Darvin Furniture & Mattress furniture giveaway.

Anyone 21 and older can register at Darvin’s Orland Park showroom, 15400 La Grange Road, for a chance to win prizes including entertainment sets, dining sets, bedroom sets, sofas, china cabinets, mattresses and more. Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 28.

The winning names will be drawn for a share of the $200,000 in furniture prizes at 6 p.m. Nov. 28.

Longtime store manager Bob McGivney said he looks forward to the furniture giveaway every year.

“After more than 20 years, the furniture giveaway never gets old for me,” said McGivney. “To see the reactions on the faces of so many of our loyal Darvin customers when they hear their name called, or when they stop by to pick up their prize, is a great feeling.”

“Darvin has been in business for 102 years and we are humbled by the generations of Chicagoland customers that have come through our doors to shop,” said company president Will Harris. “The Furniture Giveaway is our chance to say thank you and to let our customers know how much we have valued their loyalty over the years.”

Amaze Light Festival coming to Tinley Park

The Amaze Light Festival is coming to Odyssey Fun World, 19111 S. Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park, starting Nov. 18.

The festival will feature light displays, massive holiday environments, food and beverage vendors, the Arctic Express train ride, live performances and a toy store.

The festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays to Sundays through Dec. 14 before moving to seven days a week until Jan. 8. The event will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
