A Chicago couple has been charged for the murder of a man whose body was found in July 2021 on the side of the road in unincorporated Bremen Township, according to Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
Police said in a news release Friday that 45-year-old Alberto Luces and 50-year-old Yessenia Bradford, both of the 1500 block of North Kolin Avenue in Chicago, are charged in the death of 31-year-old Agustin Guinac Chaj of Chicago.
Charges of first-degree murder were approved Thursday by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, according to police.
Sheriff’s police said their investigation showed that Chaj was at a Chicago restaurant the night of July 10, 2021, with Luces and Bradford, who then lured Chaj to their van, where he was beaten and strangled.
Police said Luces, Bradford and Chaj did not know one another.
Police said the couple drove Chaj’s body to the area of Central Avenue and 177th Street, then returned home.
Sheriff’s police responded at about 2:30 a.m. on July 11, 2021, to that area for a report of an unresponsive man found by passing motorists, according to the release. The man was unclothed from the waist down and was not breathing.
Police said he was pronounced deceased at the scene and did not have identification on his person at the time he was found but was later identified as Chaj.
