
Leadership Northwest Indiana graduates announced
Members of the Leadership Institute at Purdue Northwest’s 2022-23 Leadership program received certificates of completion May 11, according to a release.
The program is facilitated by a team that includes professors from the Purdue Northwest College of Business, as well as leadership practitioners, includes an assessment and custom coaching. The facilitation team provides research-based leadership content and skill-building for effective leadership in the workplace and in life, the release said.

Insurance company awards grant, adds park bench
Aflac made a $100,000 CareGrant award recently to Community HealthNet and installed a commemorative park bench at Lake Etta County Park in Gary, according to a release. The grant will support Community HealthNet’s mission of making health care more accessible to underserved communities, the release said.
The Aflac CareGrant supports Aflac’s commitment to supporting organizations that are helping close the gap for individuals and communities currently suffering from or highly exposed to medical debt. Informing this work is the Aflac Care Index, a nationwide survey, which examined Americans’ awareness of and exposure to medical debt, the release said.
The data revealed Indiana was among the 11 states identified as having the most medical debt exposure, the release said, with 75% of respondents reporting savings less than or equal to their out-of-pocket maximum.
Hospital CEO to speak at Gary Chamber meeting
The president and CEO of Methodist Hospitals will speak at the Gary Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon at noon June 12 at the Chateau Banquet Hall, 530 W. 61st Ave., Merrillville.
Matthew Doyle will talk about Methodist’s continued mission after 100 years of serving Northwest Indiana’s health care needs, according to a release.
