Merrillville police seek tips in Sunday shooting
Merrillville police are asking for leads after a suspect fled the scene of a shooting early Sunday morning, according to a release.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the Merrillville Police Department was dispatched to the 7100 block of Fillmore Court in the Turkey Creek subdivision for a report of gunshots.
Patrol officers arrived on scene and discovered a male victim lying in the street. The victim has several injuries as a result of the gunfire and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The shooter fled the scene before police arrived on scene and no one is currently in custody for this incident.
The Merrillville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating more information about the shooting.

Man ID’d in Thursday fatal shooting in Gary
The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the person shot Thursday night outside a Gary sandwich shop and ruled the death is a homicide.
Linn Holmes, 30, of the 1000 block of 41st Place, died of a gunshot wound, according to a Sunday news release.
The coroner’s office was called at 10:10 p.m. Thursday to the 3813 Broadway outside of Fat Boy’s Sandwich Shop, officials said.
Also investigating are Gary Fire EMS; Gary Police Department; and the Lake County Crime Lab.
