A man was killed in Fox Lake Thursday night when his van was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver, police said.
The identity of the 21-year-old man was being withheld, pending notification of family, Fox Lake police said.
The crash happened at 9:39 p.m. on U.S. Route 12, north of Illinois Route 134.

Police said the man was driving north on Route 12 in a Ford van when he was hit by a Cadillac SUV that was driving south in the northbound lane. Fox Lake Fire and rescue had to cut both drivers from their vehicles.
The van driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with critical injuries and was pronounced dead later at the hospital.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 48-year-old man, was taken to Advocate with cuts and possible broken bones and was listed in stable condition. Both men were the only occupants in their vehicles.

Route 12 was closed as other police agencies responded to assist Fox Lake police. The road was reopened to regular traffic around 2 a.m. Friday.
The accident remains under investigation by local police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
