Online registration will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday for the city of Aurora’s free electronics recycling drive-thru event set for Sept. 30.
Advance registration is required for the event, which is only open to Aurora residents. No businesses can participate. Residents can register at www.aurora-il.org/FallElectronics2023.
The first 2,500 Aurora residents who register will secure a spot for the Sept. 30 drive-thru, where they can bring up to two television screens of any size and an unlimited amount of other approved electronics, city officials said.
Aurora offers two free electronics recycling drive-thru events each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Generally, registration capacity is reached in 24 hours after advance registration opens.
During the last drive-thru event held in the spring, more than 25 tons of electronics were collected, including nearly 1,500 televisions, city officials said.
