A Griffith man was sentenced to 12 months probation Friday for drunkenly threatening a cop after he was arrested at Set ‘Em Up Lanes.
Michael Blevins, 39, was charged May 30 with intimidation, a Level 6 felony. Under a plea deal filed Friday, his conviction was logged as a misdemeanor.
Deputy Prosecutor Lindsay Lanham said in court Friday that probation was “appropriate” and it was a “fair resolution.”
“This was a one-off,” Blevins’ lawyer Michael Campbell said, that came after a night of drinking.
Blevins declined to address the court.
The Griffith Police officer said he was hauling Blevins and another man on May 29 to jail from the bar/bowling lanes.
“Your son, your daughter, I will rape that little (expletive),” Blevins allegedly said.
The officer, who is white, wrote Blevins “verbally” harassed him during the ride, while both men “continued to make sexual and racist comments” until they were dropped off at the jail, documents show.
The cop car’s camera recorded the ride, documents show.
