A man was charged with first-degree murder after a fatal shooting Wednesday evening at a North Chicago home, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force announced Sunday morning.

The suspect, Carlos D. Marchan, shot at a group of people standing outside a residence in the 1600 block of Victoria Avenue, officials said. Carlos P. Marder Grant, 31, was struck and killed as a result. The shooting is believed to be gang-related based on the evidence and circumstances, officials said.

Marchan, 25, was scheduled for an initial court appearance Sunday morning. The Lake County state’s attorney’s office will seek to have him detained while awaiting trial, officials said.
