A man was fatally wounded overnight in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a call of someone shot in the 12000 block of South Lasalle Street and found a man between 20 to 25 years of age with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the victim was inside a vehicle when a dark-colored sedan approached and someone inside pulled out a weapon and opened fire toward the victim.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
