Drivers heading into downtown Geneva may need to find an alternate route this weekend, as the Geneva Arts Fair is set to close a portion of Third Street, according to a news release from the Geneva Police Department.
This year’s fair is taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, the release said.
Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 25, parking will be prohibited on Third Street from James Street to South Street, per the release. Parking will also be restricted on parts of the 200 and 300 blocks of Franklin Street near Third Street. There will be “no parking” signage posted earlier in the day, and vehicles parked in the area after 3 p.m. will be towed, according to the police department.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the same stretch of Third Street will be closed to traffic for artists to set up their tents, the release noted. The area is set to reopen to motorists by 8:30 p.m. on July 27.
The police department said in the release that a law enforcement drone may be used during the fair to assist police and emergency management personnel through aerial monitoring.
The Geneva Arts Fair is a juried fine arts show in downtown Geneva with artwork across multiple mediums, according to the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the art show, the event is set to include live acoustic music and children’s art workshops. The event is free, according to the city.
