A North Aurora man has been sentenced to 11 years in state prison after pleading guilty to disseminating child pornography, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Kane County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant State’s Attorney Ken Hudson stated in court that Aaron L. Latham, of North Aurora, used a social media platform to upload and share a video depicting a child who Latham knew was under the age of 13 engaged in a sexual act, according to the news release.

Latham agreed to the 11-year sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to disseminating child pornography involving a child under 13, which is a Class X felony, the release said. The plea was accepted by Kane County Judge Bianca Camargo.

Latham is receiving credit for serving 322 days in the Kane County Jail, the release said. Latham must also register for life as a sexual offender.

According to the release, the case was investigated as part of the county’s Child Exploitation Unit, which was launched in 2022 with the goal of keeping Illinois children safe from sexual exploitation, officials said.
