A 17-year-old girl was fatally wounded and two other victims also were shot while traveling through the Englewood neighborhood early Tuesday morning, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 7200 block of South Green Street and found three victims who were wounded while traveling in a vehicle. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was pronounced dead.
A passenger, age 20, suffered a wound to the shoulder and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was listed in serious condition, police said. A third victim, also 17, was shot in an elbow, and taken to UChicago Medicine in good condition.
The surviving victims were unable to provide details on the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
No one was in custody for the fatal attack and detectives were investigating.
