A 19-year-old woman was killed and a 19-year-old man was seriously injured late Thursday night during a two-vehicle crash on Lower Wacker Drive, Chicago police said.

About 11:30 p.m., a red sedan driven by a 56-year-old man was headed west in the first block of Lower Wacker Drive when he attempted to make a left turn and was struck by a black sedan traveling east that disregarded a traffic signal, police said.

The driver of the sedan, a 19-year-old man, suffered multiple injuries to the body and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in fair condition. His passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to the same hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the red SUV both refused medical help at the scene, police said.

No one was taken into custody and no citations were given following the crash, and the Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating.
