
A 10-year-old girl recently alerted an intermediate school teacher that she had been molested by a member of her household, which led to Friday’s arrest of a Chesterton man on multiple felony charges.
Mark Anthony Gamboa, 35, is charged with seven felonies, including three Level 1 felony counts of child molesting. Each Level 1 felony charge carries a potential sentence of 20 to 40 years.
The girl, during an interview with a Chesterton police detective, stated that the man had touched her private parts on multiple occasions, according to a probable cause statement filed in Porter Superior Court.
The sexual abuse started sometime in 2023. The most recent incident occurred at her Chesterton home, about six weeks ago, the court record says
On one occasion, the girl said that he had sexual intercourse with her in her bed, the court record says.
An arrest warrant for Gamboa was issued on Friday.
Gamboa is being held in the Porter County Jail. Bail has been set at $75,000 cash.
