A man brandishing a machete was apprehended by police Sunday after robbing a Walgreens store at 3500 Central Ave. in Lake Station.
In a release, Lake Station Police said they responded to an armed robbery call at 7:05 a.m. and learned a man came in waving a machete and demanded the registers be emptied.
He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and police said no one was injured.
Police quickly identified the suspect, located him and took him into custody before noon.
Police credited their own hard work and help from citizens and businesses. Police said they received tips from several officers from other departments, as well.
The suspect, who was not identified, is being held at Lake County Jail on a probable cause hold.
Charges were expected to be filed some time on Monday, police said.
