National Weather Service officials warned of a wind advisory set for the Chicagoland area for Thursday afternoon until 7 p.m. as driving conditions were expected to become difficult.
The wind advisory is for north central and northeast Illinois to begin at 1 p.m. and expire at 7 p.m., officials said.
Officials expect southwest winds between 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Not only will driving become difficult, officials warned of gusty winds blowing around unsecured items and possible power outages.
Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport is fog and mist at 56 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions are similiar at 59 degrees.
