A bicyclist was injured Thursday night after being struck from behind by a SUV that also hit a fire hydrant, crashed into the fence of a car dealership, and rolled over in the Gage Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a crash in the 5800 block of South Western Avenue where a 22-year-old bicyclist was headed north when he was struck from behind by a black SUV.

The 25-year-old driver of the SUV also struck a fire hydrant, crashed into a fence of a car dealership before the SUV rolled over, police said.

A male passenger was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in fair condition. The driver of the SUV was taken to the same hospital but his condition was not immediately available. The bicyclist suffered lacerations to the left arm as well as trauma to the body, and was listed in fair condition at Mount Sinai.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating.
