A man was killed in a fiery crash late Saturday night after a high-speed collision on the city’s Southwest Side, Chicago police said.
According to police reports, at approximately 11:50 p.m. at the 4400 block of Pulaski Road, an unidentified male driver was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed in a Jeep Cherokee when he struck a 67-year-old man who was attempting to enter traffic in a Honda Pilot.
The impact caused the Jeep Cherokee to veer out of control and crash into a nearby tree and fence before becoming engulfed in flames. The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 67-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot was not reported injured. No other injuries were immediately reported.
Area One detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
